Gina Bianchi, a 1993 Millikin University graduate, has been named senior director of alumni and donor engagement for Millikin's alumni and development office, replacing long-time MU alumni relations director Jan Devore, who retired in late June. Bianchi's new role is effective Aug. 5. She is responsible for the overall management of the university's alumni and donor engagement programs and events designed to engage Millikin alumni and friends with the life of the university.
"I am very pleased that Gina is joining our staff," said Dave Brandon, Millikin's vice president for alumni and development. "She brings to the position an extensive background in higher education, a love of Millikin and a passion for connecting people to their alma mater. I am sure our alumni and friends will join me in offering her a warm welcome."
Bianchi comes to Millikin from Illinois State University, where she has worked for the past 17 years. She spent six years working in the athletics department as assistant director of the athletics study center while earning her master's degree in athletic administration. She later spent two years working as the athletic development coordinator for the university, before being named director of the annual fund. In her first year in that role, Bianchi and her staff raised more than $1 million. She was subsequently named director of development for the division of student affairs, and for the past six years she has served as director of alumni relations at Illinois State.
Bianchi earned her undergraduate degree at Millikin in communication and public relations. As a student, she was active in several campus organizations, played women's softball and also served as a resident assistant. Since graduating from Millikin, Bianchi has been an active volunteer for her alma mater, serving as class fundraising agent, class reunion chair and as a volunteer admission counselor, in addition to regularly attending MU events.
"I am so pleased to be returning to Millikin to work in alumni and development," Bianchi said. "My past work experiences and my passion for Millikin University make this a perfect fit. I look forward to building on the good work done by Jan Devore in fostering relationships between Millikin and its alumni and friends all over the world. I will enjoy connecting and reconnecting our alumni and friends to the university that I love."
