Millikin University invites students, alumni and friends to participate in the 2013 Homecoming festivities taking place Sept. 29 – Oct. 6, 2013.
Millikin students will celebrate Homecoming with a week full of activities that will conclude on the weekend of Oct. 4-6 when hundreds of alumni and friends return to campus.
Homecoming week officially begins on Sunday, Sept. 29 with the annual Color Run beginning at 11 a.m. in Fairview Park in Decatur, Ill. All those interested must bring a canned good to participate in this fun walk/run 5K course.
Area alumni and friends are invited on Monday, Sept. 30 to attend one of the most anticipated events, the Homecoming Kick Off. The Kick Off event will be held on the Miller Quad and the Arrival Court on Millikin University's campus from 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Students will also participate in traditional Homecoming events throughout the week, including a talent show in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. and Chalk the Walk on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. The annual Homecoming fireworks display will take place on Friday, Oct. 4 starting at 8:30 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field.

On Saturday, Oct. 5 the Big Blue Football team will take on Illinois Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. at Frank M. Lindsay Field. Prior to the game, Big Blue fans can enjoy tailgating at Frank M. Lindsay Field from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Homecoming Week 2013 will conclude with the world famous comic creativity of iO Theater and its show "Whirled News Tonight" beginning at 8 p.m. in the Kirkland Fine Arts Center. In "Whirled News Tonight," audience members provide the inspiration for an evening of improvised comedy by clipping articles from local and national newspapers and periodicals. From these journalistic suggestions, a team of experienced improvisers creates a fast-paced, topical, intelligent and, above all, hilarious show.
