Welcome our new director!
Staley Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Karin Borei as Director of Staley Library. Ms. Borei officially began work at Millikin University on July 1, 1999.
Karin Borei comes to Staley Library from Burlington, Vermont where she served as Director of Library and Information Services at Trinity College from 1993-1998. Her previous administrative positions include serving as Associate University Librarian for Automation & Technical Services at Boston College Libraries from 1987-1992 and Associate Director of Libraries at Boston University from 1983-1987. Ms. Borei has also held professional librarian positions at the University of Virginia and the University of Pennsylvania. She brings to Staley Library a depth of experience in both the public and technical service aspects of the library.
Ms. Borei has been actively involved in professional library associations including the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries (serving on the Board of Directors from 1990-1994), the Library Administration and Management Association, and the Library and Information Technology Association. In addition, she has been active in regional library associations such as the New England Library & Information Network, the New England Library Association, and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. She has also been an active author and presenter on a wide array of library topics.
Ms. Borei received her Masters of Library Science (MLS) degree from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA), and a Bachelor of Arts degree with an arts major from Brown University (Providence,RI). She has completed extensive course work in the doctoral program in Human Resource Education (School of Education) at Boston University.
