Catherine “Cathy” M. Reed 60, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday (July 2, 2025) surrounded by family at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Catherine was born on July 18th, 1964 in Decatur, Illinois, daughter of Donald Eugene Reed and Cynthia Reed (Peterson). Cathy grew up in Decatur and graduated from Lakeview High School in their final graduating class (Class of 1982). Cathy was a multipontentialite as she had many passions that drove her success in several different careers. She was a paramedic for Decatur Ambulance Service, a teaching assistant at Decatur Public Schools, and most recently was an administrative professional at Millikin University.
Cathy’s most cherished memories were made with her family and closest friends. She was truly devoted to the happiness of those around her, and to providing support to any and all that she could. Cathy loved her niece, nephews (blood and by heart), and great nephews more than anything. She spent much of her time watching their games and special events, but if she was not out supporting them then she was home with her beloved dog, painting, and crafting.
