Albuquerque
Janet Maye (Bunny) Williams of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023.
Bunny was born in Decatur, Illinois to Robert Keeler and Ruth Keeler. She met her future husband, Joe M. Williams, at age 15 in the church choir Joe's father directed. She graduated from Decatur High School and went on to Millikin University where she studied music and education and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
She worked as a music teacher before her marriage to Joe in August 1958. The couple moved to Albuquerque in 1960, where Joe was hired by KOAT-TV. Bunny raised their two children and later worked as a preschool teacher, after-school program coordinator and teaching assistant in the Albuquerque Public Schools.
Bunny was active in the Albuquerque Symphony Women's Association and sang in the choir at Immanuel Presbyterian Church and Monte Vista Christian Church.
In retirement she and Joe enjoyed traveling and working out with the Silver Sneakers at Defined Fitness, where they won the 2015 Swanson Inspiration Award. Bunny was also a patient ambassador for Alexion Pharmaceuticals, whose novel PNH treatment allowed her to enjoy an active life throughout her later years.
