DECATUR, Ill. – After completing its first two years, the Millikin University Staff Advisory Council (MUSAC) recently held elections for the members who advocate for Millikin staff members.
Current MUSAC members could seek reelection, and staff members interested in joining could throw their hat in the ring during the election process.
MUSAC representatives among the staff are divided into 10 departments:
Ten MUSAC members are chosen from the following departments – Academic Affairs (Tabor, CFA, CPS, CAS and President’s Office), Alumni and Development, Marketing & Media Relations & Human Resources, Information Technology, Academic Affairs (CIE, IR, Library, KFAC, MCAA, Provost and Registrar’s Office), Student Financial Services, Athletics, Admission, Student Affairs, and Public Safety – and led by a chair and co-chair.
The 12-member council, composed of Millikin staff members, makes recommendations to the University Administration and serves as a liaison between staff and University leadership. Chief Human Resources Officer Todd Ray also serves as a MUSAC advisor.

MUSAC provides opportunities for staff to engage with one another, develop ideas, voice concerns, and review and discuss policies and procedures that impact the culture and work environment at Millikin.
This summer, MUSAC members are working on three areas in subcommittees, including reviving an Employee of the Month recognition program, developing plans to reduce high staff turnover rates, and exploring options for a shortened work week during the summer months.

MUSAC has also brought food and coffee trucks on campus this summer, and these businesses are stopping by in July:
• 121 Coffee Run – Thursdays through July 25 from 11:00 – 1:00
• Richland Community College’s Bistro Food Truck – Wednesday, July 16 from 11:00 – 1:00
• Rockwell Coffee Company – Tuesday, July 8 and July 22 – 11:00 – 1:00
