DECATUR, Ill. – Millikin University Tabor School of Business Professor Dr. J. Mark Munoz recently published three books covering entrepreneurship, management, and leadership. His works, “Technology Entrepreneurship in Theory and Practice,” “Evolution of Management Practice,” and “Digital Leadership: Concepts and Cases,” were each published in 2025 and place Millikin’s Tabor School of Business at the forefront of these high-profile topics.
“These three book projects combine the theme 'Technology management, entrepreneurship, and leadership in a contemporary world.’ I find it amusing that the three book projects were coincidentally published within the same month – February 202,” Munoz said. “I have been working on these books for the past 2-3 years, and they ended up getting published around the same time. I hope these books offer fresh perspectives and insights to help managers and entrepreneurs navigate emerging complexities and opportunities in our contemporary world. Ideas gathered from these books will be used in my Millikin University courses and will be used as tools to help prepare students for professional success.”

“Technology Entrepreneurship in Theory and Practice” is written to find an audience among technology entrepreneurs, engineers and scientists, entrepreneurship educators, executives, consultants, and policymakers worldwide. It was published by Routledge Press.
“Technology Entrepreneurship refers to business activities based on new scientific insights and technical developments. The process typically involves converting technical knowledge into a product or service,” Munoz said. “My goal in the book was to gather expert viewpoints to help those in the engineering and scientific fields be successful in their entrepreneurial pursuits. I am thankful for the partnership and wonderful support of my co-editor, Dr. Orestis Terzidis of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), in this book project.

“Evolution of Management Practice” was published by De Gruyter Brill, and Munoz’s goal with the work was to update older management theories that may have outlived their effectiveness.
“Management concepts developed in the 80s are often still taught in business schools around the world. Given the vast changes that have unfolded in recent years, such as technological breakthroughs, remote work, demographic and social shifts, I felt the need to gather the viewpoints of thought leaders and experts to uncover how these changes have impacted contemporary management practice,” he said. “This book offers a snapshot of transformations taking place and presents new and innovative ideas for managers.”

Digital leadership is the practice of leveraging digital technologies to achieve business goals and drive innovation and Digital Leadership: Concepts and Cases, published by Edward Elgar Publishing, collects the thinking of leading experts on the subject.
“As a result of rapid technological changes unfolding in the workplace with AI, IoT, blockchain, augmented reality, among many others, contemporary managers have to think about leadership in new ways,” Munoz said. “This book offers strategic insights that will help managers lead effectively to gain a competitive advantage and achieve digital success.”
In 2023, Munoz was recently named the recipient of the Academy of Global Business Advancement (AGBA) Lifetime Achievement Award in Global Business and was also named a finalist for the Triple E Male Entrepreneurial Leader of the Year Award. He finished as runner-up overall from the judges and won first place based on the competition's community voting (People’s Choice) portion.
