A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder and The Tempest

AUDITION PROCESS
*Your audition is two minutes in length. If you are a first-year or transfer student, you must present a song AND a monologue that meet the requirements below. If you are a returning student who submitted a video for Gentleman’s Guide in April, you are only required to perform a monologue. We WILL call “time” if you go over two minutes, so please plan accordingly. You want to make sure you can show all your material within the time allotted.
SONG
*Please sing a classical musical theatre or operetta cut. Shows could include (but not limited to) My Fair Lady, The Firefly, The Enchantress, A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and The Sorcerer. Composers could include (but not limited to) Victor Herbert, Lerner/Loewe, Sigmund Romberg, and Gilbert & Sullivan.
*Vocal production for this show is classical/legit. Please do not use an accent/dialect.
*This musical is a comedy. That said, please sing something that shows both vocal range and character.
*DO NOT sing anything from A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.
*DO NOT sing anything written by Stephen Sondheim.
MONOLOGUE
Shakespeare in verse is preferred, but not required. No preference towards dramatic or comedic. No monologue should exceed 1:30.

*required of all first-year and transfer BFA performance majors… recommended for anyone who wants a chance to run their material in the space

Tuesday, August 26, 2025 –
6:30-9pm - SOPHOMORE & SENIOR AUDITIONS (VRT)
Wednesday, August 27, 2025 –
6:30-9pm – FIRST YEAR & JUNIOR AUDITIONS (VRT)
Thursday, August 28, 2025 –
6:00-10:00pm – The Tempest CALLBACKS (VRT)
